Process-driven and contextually anchored, the Still Moves soundworks comprise tracks of seductive unease. Filmic, atmospheric and yet intimate, subtly melodic without being overly musical, they explore the abstract quality of sound while focusing on its transformative potential to evoke a magnified sense of place.
Devised and produced as multi-channel aleatoric soundworks for specific architectural spaces and environments, the pieces have been made with an amalgamation of disparate yet spatially and conceptually connected sonic elements. Reflective of place and history, analogous to the ceaseless flux of nature’s generative processes, the pieces use electro-acoustic and hybrid instruments, non-musical objects such as stones, gravel, ice, breathing, found sounds, urban and rural field recordings and occasionally, archive audio samples to create tightly woven aural webs of multi-layered density to create psychologically-charged, immersive environments.
